Here’s why you should ditch WhatsApp for Signal

WhatsApp was once considered the most private messaging platform.

The messaging app was one of the first to implement end-to-end encryption in 2016. This means neither Facebook nor your internet service provider has access to the content of your messages.

New terms of service however, which WhatsApp users are forced to agree with suggest parent-company Facebook is trying to change this.

The new agreement gives Facebook access to information such as phone numbers, contacts, profile names and pictures and diagnostic data.

Users of WhatsApp are now being asked to accept these new terms through an in-app message. If they don’t, they will no longer be able to use WhatsApp after the 8th of February 2021.

The move comes as Facebook is trying to integrate various products into the ‘Facebook family of companies.’
